About the Artist

Joanne Fox has been a practicing artist for the past 40 years and has had exhibitions in many cities throughout the USA. She began as an abstract painter in the 1960's and gave up painting and turned to crafts after she looked over one day and found her baby girl had reached up to the palette and covered herself in paint. In 1990, after many successful years in the American Craft movement and with her daughters out of her studio, Joanne returned to fine art and began making sculptural artist's books. Her books with transparent pages suggested a new way in which she could combine painting photography, collage and light in multi-layered wall pieces. Joanne has been exploring the possibilities of this structure for the past ten years. Recently she has come full circle and, in addition to the multilayered works, has begun painting large abstract canvases in oils once again.
